We can not switch from fossil fuel because we do not have the minerals or materials, but we also do not have the time to bring it on line (solar panels, wind turbines, and etc). The problem with mining minerals is the amount of energy it takes pull them out of the ground by moving tons of un-valued rock and crushing the rock and etc to produce a metal/mineral. This problem also increases exponentially as the percentage of mineral per ton of rock increases and the cost of fossil fuel increases mine and move the rock and refine it.
If and when it is determine that there is insufficient minerals in the ground vs. the cost of mining, at a point a lot of mining and a lot of manufacturing will SIMPLE STOP!
A green transition will happen but in a much smaller way and with a great deal of suffering.
My comment: Given he is running for president, he should have known that irrefutable scientific evidence proves that NIST and the 9/11 Commission reports are full of lies
