Healthcare system broke Part 1, Luna Physical Therapy bad experience, NC law violation, You can't take money under false pretenses
“Why me God?”
Lying in bed last night after my latest Healthcare system let down, I had what I consider to be an Epiphany.
On December 9, 2021 I suffered an ischemic stroke.
Lying on a gurney being triaged by emergency room staff I asked God to not take me now.
God has kept his promise.
I have been kept alive I believe for a reason.
I will present my experiences with stroke recovery and the Healthcare system in a multi part series beginning with this article.
"If it sounds too good to be true it probably is."
My experience with Luna Physical Therapy.
My recovery during the first year was good including walking behind mower.
After a year I hit a metaphorical wall.
My left “spastic” arm still hurt and did not respond to exercise/therapy.
I also contacted numerous law firms about a potential law suit against Cone Health who I believe committed malpractice, incompetence and fraud. More on this later.
My left arm and shoulder began hurting intensely recently so I sought out an experienced physical therapist.
This past Saturday I found Luna online and filled out their online questionaire.
The website explained they used experienced therapy independent contractors which appealed to me.
I received a phone call and the Luna rep indicated I would have to get a physician referral. I stated I would follow-up and an appointment was made for a visit to my home this Thursday.
However
The Luna website shows the following:
"In North Carolina, Direct Access rules allow patients to be seen for physical therapy without a prescription."
Yesterday I had lengthy phone conversations with my Devoted Health Plan reps and healthcare agent. I was assured that my plan covered this visit. I had also provided a credit card as guarantee.
Late yesterday I received a text from Luna stating that my appointment was cancelled and that I canceled it.
That is a lie!
Caveat Emptor
I did call my PCP recently, Eagle Family Practice, which has ties to Cone Health and they refused to provide a referral. More on this to come.
